Find Wexford County Civil Dockets

Start your Wexford County civil docket search with the county clerk, the office that keeps the public case history. A civil docket shows the path a dispute takes. Parties, service, responses, motions, hearings, and the final result all appear as entries once a case is filed. The docket itself may not hold every filed document, so match the court type, claim amount, and case category when a Wexford civil matter is hard to find at first.

Wexford Civil Docket Jurisdiction

Money decides the door for most Wexford civil claims. Under the 84th District Court civil page, general civil claims up to $25,000, small claims, and summary proceedings belong in District Court. Above $25,000, the 28th Circuit Court steps in. It takes general civil claims, plus circuit-level civil matters, family matters, and appeals from lower trial courts or agencies. Probate stands apart for estates, guardianships, conservatorships, and protective proceedings.

This split is why a dollar figure or case type often matters more than a street address when you are hunting a Wexford civil docket. The Circuit and District courts share the courthouse at 437 E. Division in Cadillac. Their files do not share a clerk. Each court keeps its own separate channel. The District Court civil information is the local source. It covers District jurisdiction and the civil, small-claims, and summary-proceeding routes.

Do not assume the District route covers everything. A higher-value Circuit claim or a Probate matter sits with a different clerk and a different docket.

Inside a Wexford County Civil Docket

A Wexford County civil docket entry carries more detail than most people expect. The header usually lists the case number, court, judge, filed date, case type, and case style. You will also see the current status. The disposition and its date appear there too, if the case has wrapped up. Party information sorts everyone into roles. Plaintiff or petitioner sits on one side, defendant or respondent on the other. Counsel and alternate names appear there too, along with the answer date and service date. Event entries track the case as it moves. They log a summons and complaint, return or proof of service, an answer, appearance, motion, notice, hearing, order, judgment, jury demand, satisfaction, or a close event.

Case statusMiCOURT can use Open or Pending, Adjudicated or Disposed, and Closed.
Service and answerDates that a summons was served or an answer was filed can show whether the case has moved past its opening stage.
Hearing fieldWhere supplied, it gives hearing type, date, officer, location, and next hearing.
Finance fieldsThey may include filing fee, judgment amount, costs, balance, satisfaction, or payment entries.
Document eventAn order or motion may appear as an event without making a public document image available.

A docket lists events and nothing more. It is not the complaint, a transcript, or a certified judgment. Need a specific filing? Name the document and the court, then ask the right Wexford clerk for a plain or certified copy.

Wexford Civil Docket Forms and Fees

The District civil page pairs forms with docket paths. Expect MC01 for a summons and complaint, MC03 for an answer, DC84 for small-claims materials, MC09 for dismissal, MC17 for a satisfied judgment, and MC11 for a civil discovery subpoena. Summary proceedings draw on DC102a for a nonpayment seven-day complaint and DC100c for a thirty-day notice-to-quit complaint. A form number helps describe a filing. It does not reveal the outcome.

District civil matterPublished Wexford filing tiers
General civil$35 up to $600; $55 over $600 to $1,750; $75 over $1,750 to $10,000; $160 over $10,000 to $25,000
Small claims$49 or $30 plus service up to $600; $69 or $50 plus service over $600 to $1,750; $89 or $70 plus service over $1,750 to $7,000
Summary possession only$55
Summary with money judgment$90 to $215, by amount claimed

One caution belongs here. The small-claims page caps judgment at $5,500 while its fee chart reaches a tier up to $7,000, an internal discrepancy in the official material. Before filing, or before trusting a docket classification, confirm the current limit and fee with the District clerk.

Civil Case Types on the Docket

Wexford civil dockets are not one uniform stream. Type and value decide the route. District civil, small claims, and summary proceedings each run on their own procedures. Circuit general civil and family filings go through the Circuit clerk. Probate stands outside general civil. That holds even when money or property is involved.

  • District general civil claims within the published $25,000 jurisdictional boundary.
  • Small claims, which use an informal process with parties presenting evidence and witnesses.
  • Summary proceedings, including possession-only matters and claims seeking money judgment.
  • Circuit general civil claims above the District jurisdictional limit and lower-court appeals.
  • Probate estates, guardianships, conservatorships, and protective proceedings through Probate.

The local page allows small-claims service by certified restricted mail or a process server. A service entry on the docket is a key marker. Still, it cannot replace reading the court notice or the official filing itself.

Wexford Civil Motion to Order

A civil docket tends to follow a familiar sequence. A complaint or petition is filed, service recorded, then an answer or appearance, motion and response, notice of hearing, court order, judgment or other disposition, then satisfaction or close if applicable. A motion is simply a request for the court to enter an order. Under a summary-disposition motion, a party asks for judgment without a full trial on disputed issues. The rules must permit it.

The published Circuit fee schedule on the county clerk fee page lists a $20 motion fee. That figure belongs to the Circuit fee page alone. It says nothing about a District or Probate fee. An online history entry labeled motion, notice, order, or judgment marks a point in the timeline. But it does not promise that the filed document is downloadable to the public.

Note: a satisfied judgment is a docket event about recorded status. It should not be inferred from a missing balance field alone.

Civil Docket Settings and Hearings

A civil setting may show in MiCOURT two ways. It can sit in the next-hearing field or the hearing block, with a type, date, officer, and location attached. The District Docket page lays out its own columns. You get a date, day, case style, case number, local code, and time. But treat that page as a layout guide only. It runs stale. A line there is no promise of a current Wexford civil hearing.

What truly sets a matter is paper. A notice, scheduling order, continuance, or clerk confirmation controls the actual date. If the next-hearing field sits empty, read the latest docket events and notices, then ask the court of record to confirm. The Wexford court dates page walks through the calendar channels and the jury or specialty posting routes.

Wexford Civil Docket Filing Technology

MiFILE is Michigan's e-filing system. It is not a public case-search tool. Check the MiFILE Available Courts directory. The August 26, 2026 listing shows no Wexford. It shows no 28th Circuit. It also shows no 84th District. Treat that as a snapshot rather than proof that no local filing method exists. Confirm the current filing method with the relevant clerk.

The Wexford County Clerk fee page publishes the Circuit copy and filing context cited here. It includes the fee for a certified copy: $10 for the first page and $1 for each additional page. The page does not list separate District or Probate copy fees.

Wexford County civil docket Circuit Clerk fee information

One caution on those numbers. The fee page covers only the County Clerk's Circuit function, so it is not an automatic price list for every Wexford civil docket; the District and Probate courts set their own copy charges.

Civil Docket Access Rules

Under MCR 8.119, court records are generally open to the public. Law, rule, or court order can restrict them. Electronic access to public case history can come without a fee. Reproduction may carry an allowed charge. For copies in Wexford County, the Clerk's posted Circuit rates are $1 per photocopy. The certified rate is $10 for the first page plus $1 per additional page.

Access boundary: MCR 1.109(D)(9)-(10) protects personal identifiers, including dates of birth and financial-account numbers. Wexford County FOIA is for county administrative records, not a shortcut to a sealed judicial file.

Need a redacted public version, a plain copy, a certified copy, or an order? Ask the court that holds the civil case. Keep one limit in mind: nonpublic family, juvenile, adoption, protection-order, mental-health, and other restricted categories stay closed even when a general civil name search returns nothing.

Wexford Civil Docket MiFILE Notice

The live MiFILE court list is the official page. It shows which courts currently accept electronic filings through MiFILE. That list is what the page below displays. The MiFILE registration and login screens deal with a filing account, a service address, picking a court, and account credentials. For tracing a Wexford civil case history, MiCOURT remains the right tool. Skip the MiFILE sign-in pages.
